Lyceum Secures Overtime Victory Against Arellano in NCAA Season 100


MANILA — The Lyceum of the Philippines University men’s basketball team clinched a thrilling 90-86 overtime victory against Arellano University during Friday’s match in the NCAA Season 100, held at the Filoil EcoOil Arena. Key performances by John Barba and Mclaude Guadana fueled the Pirates’ win, boosting their season record to 2-2.



According to Philippines News Agency, Barba and Guadana were instrumental in overtime, scoring 11 combined points that decisively tipped the scale in Lyceum’s favor. Barba led the scoring for his team with 25 points, along with eight rebounds and three assists, while Guadana added 12 points to the tally. Additional support came from Gyle Montano and Simon Penafiel, who contributed 17 and 11 points, respectively, helping the team to maintain its competitive edge.



Despite leading at the end of the third quarter with a score of 63-57, Arellano University could not sustain its momentum, eventually marking its fourth consecutive loss. Maverick Vinuya stood out for the Chiefs with 22 points, including four triples. Troy Valencia also made significant contributions with 18 points, six rebounds, five assists, and three steals.



The current standings see College of Saint Benilde at the top with a perfect 4-0 record, followed closely by Mapua University and Letran, both of which have 2-1 records and were still competing at the time of reporting.
