Perpetual and San Beda Secure Third Spot in NCAA Standings


SAN JUAN CITY — In the NCAA Season 100 men’s basketball games held at FilOil EcoOil Centre on Saturday, the University of Perpetual Help and San Beda University both claimed victories that moved them into a tie for third place in the league standings.



According to Philippines News Agency, University of Perpetual Help showcased a strong performance against Emilio Aguinaldo College (EAC), securing a 73-67 win. Rookie Mark Gojo Cruz was pivotal in the victory, scoring 18 points, which included key three-point shots, and contributing across the board with six assists, five rebounds, three blocks, and two steals. Teammate Christian Pagaran added 15 points and nine rebounds, helping the team come back from an early deficit where they trailed 18-21 at the end of the first quarter.



Meanwhile, defending champions San Beda University defeated Jose Rizal University with a convincing 77-60 scoreline. Yukien Andrada led the Red Lions with a double-double of 16 points and 10 rebounds, while Bryan Sajonia and teammates James Payosing and Jomel Puno each added significant scores to solidify their team’s position in the standings.



The victories put both University of Perpetual Help and San Beda University at a 3-2 record, sharing the third spot. At the top of the league standings is College of Saint Benilde, currently undefeated at 4-0, followed closely by Mapua University with a 3-1 record. Several teams including Letran, San Sebastian College-Recoletos, and Lyceum of the Philippines University are tied for fourth place with a 2-2 record. EAC follows closely with a 2-3 record, while Arellano University has yet to win in four outings.
