111 Dead, 1.7 Million Families Affected by Twin Cyclones.

Manila: The death toll from the effects of Severe Tropical Storm Kristine (international name Trami) has climbed to 111, while combined with Typhoon Leon (international name Kong-rey), affected families have reached 1,789,276. In its situation update Tuesday, the National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council (NDRRMC) however said only 14 deaths have been confirmed so far — nine in Zamboanga Peninsula, two in Central Luzon, two in Cordillera and one in Northern Mindanao.

According to Philippines News Agency, 97 deaths are under validation — 54 in Calabarzon, 36 in Bicol, five in Central Visayas, and two in Zamboanga Peninsula. The number of injured were placed at 74, of which only 10 are confirmed as of this time. Still undergoing validation are reports of 30 missing persons.

Meanwhile, the number of affected families equivalent to 7,134,954 persons are living in 10,181 villages in 17 regions nationwide. Of this number, 121,814 families or 531,387 persons are being served inside 5,872 evacuation
centers while another 84,137 families or 403,727 individuals are being helped outside.

Damaged houses were placed at 83,777 and these were reported in 16 regions. Agriculture damage was estimated at PHP2.8 billion in nine regions while infrastructure damage was placed at PHP1.54 billion in 10 regions.
