BATAAN: A family in Hermosa, Bataan, has transitioned from financial struggles to provincial recognition, thanks to the support of the Pantawid Pamilyang Pilipino Program (4Ps). The Laylo family, once facing dire economic hardships, has been named the provincial winner of the 2024 Search for Huwarang Pantawid Pamilya, highlighting their journey towards self-sufficiency.

According to Philippines News Agency, the Laylo family, led by Paulino and Corazon Laylo and their seven children, experienced significant hardships before being selected as 4Ps beneficiaries in 2012. Corazon recounted their past struggles, often selling vegetables door-to-door, and sometimes going without meals until the afternoon. Despite these challenges, the family’s determination to provide a better future for their children never wavered.

Paulino Laylo recalled times when their family faced severe hunger while living in the mountains. Yet, he noted that their children adapted to the situation and found joy in what little they had. The
turning point came in 2012 when they became part of the 4Ps program, providing them with financial assistance to meet the educational and health needs of their children.

The Laylo family’s story is a testament to resilience and the impact of government aid programs in altering the course of lives. Through the 4Ps, they were able to rise above their circumstances, ensuring their children received education and healthcare, ultimately leading them to their current recognition as a model family within the program.
