ACT-CIS Donates Medicines and Supplies to Angat Buhay Foundation for Leptospirosis Relief.

Manila: House of Representatives Deputy Majority Leader Erwin Tulfo and the ACT-CIS party-list have made a significant contribution to the Angat Buhay Foundation, led by former vice president Leni Robredo, by donating 50 boxes, or 5,000 capsules, of Doxycycline. This medicine is crucial in treating leptospirosis, a bacterial infection that poses a threat to residents exposed to floodwaters in the Bicol region following Severe Tropical Storm Kristine.

According to Philippines News Agency, the donation aims to aid in the distribution of medicines to the storm-affected victims in areas like Camarines Sur, where cities such as Naga are submerged under floodwaters. Tulfo emphasized that their office had received numerous calls reporting leptospirosis cases due to prolonged exposure to floodwaters, prompting the urgent need for medical intervention.

In addition to the medical supplies, the ACT-CIS and the Erwin Tulfo Action Center had previously donated 2,000 sacks of rice and PHP1 million from their personal fun
ds to families affected by the storm. Of these, 500 sacks of rice were directed to the Angat Buhay Foundation, with another 500 sacks allocated to Iriga and other towns in the Bicol region.

Tulfo also provided PHP50,000 cash to assist typhoon victims in San Guillermo Parish in Talisay, Batangas. His efforts are not limited to the current storm; he is also focusing on areas potentially at risk from the approaching Super Typhoon Leon. Both the Tulfo Action Center and ACT-CIS Party-list Representatives Edvic Yap and Jocelyn Tulfo have pledged to continue their support for those in need. Tulfo stated, “That’s why we are continuously monitoring the situation to immediately send assistance to our countrymen.”
