Adamson University and Ateneo Secure Wins in UAAP Boys’ Volleyball Matches


Manila: Adamson University and Ateneo de Manila University each recorded victories in the latest round of the UAAP Season 87 boys’ volleyball tournament, held at Paco Arena in Manila. Adamson defeated De La Salle Zobel in straight sets, while Ateneo overcame the University of the Philippine Integrated School in a four-set match.

According to Philippines News Agency, Adamson University’s performance was spearheaded by Jims Ducusin, who scored a total of 16 points comprising 13 attacks and two blocks, leading the Baby Falcons to a 25-16, 25-17, 25-17 victory. This win brings Adamson’s record to four wins in seven matches. Teammates Brice Malinao and Neil Tobias contributed nine and seven points, respectively, with James Javinal providing 13 excellent sets. Adamson coach Marvin Ramoso highlighted the need for improvement in service and reception, noting the team’s tendency to become complacent.

In another match, Ateneo de Manila University ended their six-game losing streak by defeating the University of the P
hilippine Integrated School with scores of 25-18, 25-20, 26-28, 25-17. Key players Ethan Rivera and Ken Nicolas led the team with 15 points each. Ateneo coach Babes Castillo expressed satisfaction with the team’s performance, especially given the presence of many first-time players who faced and overcame significant challenges during the game.

The standings in the tournament show University of Santo Tomas at the top with a perfect 7-0 record, followed by defending champion National University-Nazareth School at 6-1, and University of the East at 5-2. Far Eastern University-Diliman and De La Salle Zobel have records of 3-4 and 2-5, respectively.
