Agusan del Sur Launches Financial Literacy Program for 4Ps High School Students

SAN LUIS, AGUSAN DEL SUR — A new financial literacy and entrepreneurship training program has been initiated for forty high school students under the Pantawid Pamilyang Pilipino Program (4Ps) in San Luis, Agusan del Sur, aimed at enhancing their economic skills and resilience.

According to Philippines News Agency, the DSWD-13 information office chief, the Department of Social Welfare and Development in the Caraga Region (DSWD-13) and the World Bank have chosen Cecilia National High School in Barangay Cecilia as the pilot location for this initiative. “The program, which started on August 30, will run through November and is designed to teach Grades 11 and 12 students crucial financial literacy and entrepreneurship skills,” Reyes explained in an interview on Monday.

The curriculum focuses on imparting practical financial knowledge, including budgeting, saving, and managing debt, as well as entrepreneurial skills that encourage teamwork and analytical thinking. The students, who are also children of 4Ps beneficiaries, are expected to utilize these skills in daily life and potentially share their knowledge within the community. The local government of San Luis has expressed support for the program, highlighting its potential to foster youth development and economic resilience among disadvantaged groups. The success and impact of the program will be assessed after three months to consider its replication in other regions.
