Baguio LGU and SSS Partner to Provide Coverage for 525 Job Order, Contract of Service Workers

BAGUIO — The Baguio City government has entered into an agreement with the Social Security System (SSS) to facilitate the collection of membership premiums for 525 job order (JO) and contract of service (COS) workers, ensuring their inclusion in the SSS.

According to Philippines News Agency, who signed the memorandum of agreement (MOA) with SSS officials at the Baguio Convention Center on Tuesday, the city government is committed to providing necessary services to SSS and hopes to encourage all non-plantilla workers to enroll in the system. These workers, who are not covered by the Government Service Insurance System (GSIS) due to the nature of their employment, will now have the opportunity to secure benefits under the SSS.

Rolando Macasaet, SSS president and CEO, emphasized that the program aligns with the SSS’s mandate to ensure all Filipinos have access to pension benefits upon retirement. He highlighted the range of benefits available to qualified SSS members, including life insurance, unemployment insurance, disability insurance, and funeral benefits. Macasaet also noted that there are approximately one million JO and COS workers in the Philippines, and the SSS aims to enroll them as members, alongside encouraging barangay officials to secure their future through SSS contributions.
