Batac City to Close Main Road for Bomb Explosion Drill


LAOAG CITY — The local government of Batac City will close Washington Street from the city hall to Quaioit Bridge on Tuesday afternoon to facilitate a bomb explosion simulation exercise.



According to Philippines News Agency, the drill, scheduled from 1 p.m. to 6 p.m., is part of the World Patient Day celebration and aims to boost public awareness and preparedness for potential terror attacks. The event is organized in partnership with the Mariano Marcos Memorial Hospital and Medical Center (MMMHandMC), the Philippine National Police, and the Bureau of Fire Protection. Dr. Romel Rasos, head of MMMHandMC’s disaster risk reduction management unit, emphasized the importance of coordinated emergency response efforts between the community and government agencies. The simulation will test the effectiveness of the city’s disaster preparedness protocols, and a forum on bomb explosion safety will be held at the Sangguniang Panlungsod session hall.
