Bicol Police Boosted by New Patrol Vehicles to Enhance Regional Security

LEGAZPI CITY—The Police Regional Office in Bicol (PRO5) has enhanced its operational capabilities with the introduction of new patrol vehicles, aimed at bolstering law enforcement efforts across the region.

According to the Philippines News Agency, the handover ceremony was led by PRO5 Regional Director Brig. Gen. Andre Dizon, who highlighted the crucial role of these new vehicles in improving the effectiveness of police operations. “These vehicles are vital tools that will strengthen our capability to serve and protect the people of Bicol,” Dizon stated, reaffirming the force’s commitment to maintaining peace and order.

The addition to the fleet includes a 4×4 Isuzu D-Max personnel carrier and three 4×2 Toyota Hilux patrol jeeps, funded through Congress-Initiated Changes/Adjustments (CICA) with advocacy from former Senator and current Department of Education Secretary Juan Edgardo Angara. The vehicles will be distributed to various police units, including the provincial offices in Masbate and Camarines Sur and municipal stations in Catanduanes and Sorsogon.

Dizon emphasized that the vehicles, fully equipped with necessary accessories, will be deployed as per the guidelines and regulations of the Philippine National Police (PNP). He expressed optimism that the strategic enhancement of mobility assets will significantly improve the efficiency, effectiveness, and reach of law enforcement in the region.

In related news, PRO5 reported significant results from recent anti-drug operations, with PHP1.2 million worth of illegal drugs confiscated between September 2 and 8. The operations led to the seizure of 189.07 grams of shabu and 8.60 grams of marijuana, with 26 suspects arrested across 18 different operations.
