Bicol University Achieves 100% Passing Rate in Psychometrician Licensure Exam

DARAGA — Bicol University (BU) celebrated a 100 percent passing rate in the August 2024 Psychometricians Licensure Examination, with an alumna securing a spot in the top 10.

According to Philippines News Agency, Thea Marie Sales led BU’s 33 first-time takers with a score of 85.40, placing her among the top 10 passers. The exam, held on August 11 and 12, saw 7,478 out of 10,717 candidates pass.

Sales expressed surprise at her achievement, noting the difficulty of the psychological assessment and industrial-organizational psychology subjects. She credited her success to a strong support system and adopting the “bahala na” (whatever will be, will be) mindset, a concept popularized by Dr. Alfredo Lagmay, a pioneer of psychology in the Philippines.

Reflecting on her preparation, Sales said, “Being a topnotcher is just a bonus. What truly matters to me is earning our license, as it means increasing the number of mental health professionals, which will make services more accessible here in Bicol.”
