Bureau of Immigration Confirms Mylah Roque Departed for Singapore Amid Legal Controversies

MANILA: The Bureau of Immigration confirmed on Tuesday that Mylah Roque, wife of former presidential spokesperson Harry Roque Jr., has left the Philippines and traveled to Singapore on September 3.

According to Philippines News Agency, BI spokesperson Dana Sandoval revealed during a Bagong Pilipinas Ngayon briefing that a lookout bulletin for Mrs. Roque was only issued post her departure on September 16, indicating her absence from the country. The bulletin was part of an effort to monitor her movements amid ongoing investigations. Sandoval contrasted this situation with that of Harry Roque, who according to BI records, has not left the Philippines. “While former spokesperson Harry Roque has no recent departure as per our record and he has an immigration lookout bulletin (ILBO) which was issued on August 6,” she stated.

The departure of Mylah Roque comes amidst legal challenges, particularly after being cited for contempt by the House of Representatives Quad Committee for not responding to a subpoena. This
committee is actively investigating the connections between Philippine Offshore Gaming Operators (POGOs) and illegal activities including drug trafficking and extrajudicial killings under the previous administration.

Amid these developments, the Philippine National Police (PNP) through their spokesperson Brig. Gen. Jean Fajardo at a press briefing in Camp Crame, Quezon City, expressed ongoing efforts in locating Harry Roque. “We are encountering some challenges but we are not giving excuses, what we can give right now is our commitment. We will not stop looking for Atty. Roque but also for other wanted personalities,” Fajardo said.

This case continues to attract significant attention as it unfolds, illustrating the broader issues of accountability and law enforcement in the Philippines.
