CA Confirms Jose Vicencio Mejia as JBC Member Representing Private Sector


Manila – The Commission on Appointments (CA) confirmed on Tuesday the ad interim appointment of Jose Vicencio Mejia as a member of the Judicial and Bar Council (JBC), representing the private sector.



According to Philippines News Agency, Senator Ronald dela Rosa, in his sponsorship speech, lauded Mejia’s longstanding commitment to the principles of law, noting his previous tenure as a JBC representative for the academe from 2011 to 2018. “His journey as a member of the Philippine Bar is marked with utmost competence and dedication in his chosen field,” dela Rosa said. He further emphasized, “Indeed, the impressive credentials and unblemished record of our appointee deserves another term in the Judicial and Bar Council, Supreme Court of the Philippines.”



Mejia’s legal career began at Sepidoza and Laogan Law Offices in 1985, and he has since taken roles such as Senior Technical Assistant and Legal Consultant to the late Senator Rene Saguisag. He rose to Vice President for Legal and Corporate Affairs at TVI Pacific Group of Companies, a Canadian mining firm, in 1995, and became a Senior Partner at Ligon Solis Mejia Florendo Law firm in 2006. “In his four decades of private law practice, he specializes in real property transactions, estate settlement and planning, and agrarian law,” dela Rosa highlighted.



Mejia, who earned his Bachelor of Laws from Ateneo De Manila University and subsequently joined the Philippine Bar, has also taught at De La Salle University, Ateneo De Manila University, College of the Holy Spirit, Pamantasan ng Lungsod ng Maynila, where he also served as the University Secretary and Legal Counsel, and the International University Foundation. His term as a JBC member will continue until July 9, 2028.



Additionally, the CA confirmed the ad interim appointments of 28 foreign service officials of the Department of Foreign Affairs.
