Cebu City Police Seize PHP34 Million Worth of Shabu in Major Drug Bust


CEBU CITY — A significant drug enforcement operation on Friday led to the arrest of a 51-year-old woman in Barangay Carreta, Cebu City, from whom authorities seized PHP34 million worth of shabu.



According to Philippines News Agency, the woman had been under surveillance by the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency in Central Visayas (PDEA-7) for over two months. The operation, carried out at 4:50 p.m. along Cokaliong Street, involved a composite team from PDEA-7, the Philippine National Police-Regional Police Drug Enforcement Unit, and Naval Forces Central. The suspect was found in possession of approximately five kilograms of suspected shabu, divided into five large packs.



During the arrest, officers also confiscated a mobile phone and other non-drug-related evidence. The suspect is believed to have sourced the illegal substances from the National Capital Region. Mayor Raymond Alvin Garcia was present during the on-site inventory of the seized evidence, highlighting the significant nature of the bust and its importance to regional safety and security.



This operation marks a substantial victory in the ongoing efforts to combat drug trafficking within the region.
