Chinese National Arrested for Alleged Kidnapping in Pasay Anti-Trafficking Operation

PASAY: A Chinese national has been apprehended for the alleged kidnapping of seven foreign nationals in Pasay City, according to an announcement by the National Capital Region Police Office (NCRPO) on Wednesday.

According to Philippines News Agency, NCRPO chief Maj. Gen. Sidney Hernia reported that the suspect, Zhao Xing, was taken into custody during an anti-human trafficking operation conducted in Barangay 86 on Tuesday. The operation resulted in the rescue of seven Vietnamese nationals who were allegedly victims of human trafficking.

The intervention was initiated following a tip-off from a concerned citizen, who reported that several Vietnamese women were being exploited for prostitution. The suspect allegedly targeted individuals working in Philippine offshore gaming operator (POGO) hubs.

Zhao Xing is expected to face charges under Republic Act 10364, also known as the Expanded Anti-Trafficking in Persons Act of 2012. This legislation criminalizes human trafficking activities, particularly those invol
ving women and children.

Maj. Gen. Hernia commended the cooperation between NCRPO and its partner agencies in successfully rescuing the victims and arresting the suspect. He emphasized that the operation underscores NCRPO’s ongoing commitment to combating human trafficking and safeguarding vulnerable individuals.
