Comelec-Iloilo City Hosts Fun Run to Boost Voter Registration Ahead of Deadline

ILOILO CITY—The Commission on Elections (Comelec) in Iloilo City is ramping up its efforts to encourage more voter registrations by organizing a fun run, satellite registration, and the Register Anywhere Program (RAP) on Saturday. The initiative, dubbed “Takbo ng Bawat Juan Para sa Halalan,” aims to attract around 400 registrants at the activity center of Atria Park in the Mandurriao district.

According to Philippines News Agency, the campaign seeks to increase voter turnout ahead of the September 30 registration deadline. Sayno noted that while they are close to reaching their target of 15,000 new registrants since February, the current number of registered voters in Iloilo City stands at 319,294, down from 333,470 in the previous elections. The decline is attributed to a cleansing process that deactivated around 25,000 voters.

Sayno also highlighted the popularity of the Register Anywhere Program, which will continue until August 30, offering convenience to registrants by allowing them to register at various locations.
