Comelec Targets 2028 Completion for New Headquarters in Pasay City

PASAY CITY — The Commission on Elections (Comelec) aims to complete its new main office in Pasay City by 2028, signaling a significant development in its operational infrastructure. The project involves constructing a nine-story building that will house offices, warehouses, training facilities, event venues, and employee dormitories.

According to Philippines News Agency, the foundation laying will be completed within six months, and construction is set to begin next year. The PHP8.225 billion budget, approved in 2019, will fund the construction, although additional funds may be necessary for furnishing due to cost adjustments. “We would try our best to finish it within three to four years. This is not just a gift for Comelec employees and officials but to the people. The construction would be done by 2028. We believe that once we start, the construction will be continuous,” Garcia commented during the groundbreaking ceremony in Pasay City on Monday.

The new building will be located on a three-hectare plot within Central Business Park I – Island ‘A’ on Harbor Drive. Currently, Comelec’s main operations are spread across multiple floors in the Palacio del Gobernador building in Intramuros, Manila.
