Davao City Celebrates Crime-Free Kadayawan Festival

DAVAO CITY – In a remarkable display of community cooperation and law enforcement effectiveness, no criminal incidents were recorded during the 39th Kadayawan Festival, which took place from August 8 to 18 in Davao City. This year’s festival not only showcased the rich cultural heritage of the city’s 11 ethnolinguistic tribes but also demonstrated a significant achievement in maintaining peace and security throughout the extensive celebrations.

According to Philippines News Agency, the successful prevention of crime can be attributed to the concerted efforts of both the police force and the local community. Acting DCPO Director Col. Hansel Marantan praised the collaborative spirit of the citizens, emphasizing that their adherence to the law played a crucial role in fostering a safe environment for the festivities. “Your tremendous support in adhering to the law has emphasized our commitment to embracing our community’s safety culture. Let us continue on this journey together, supporting one another for the peace and development of our beloved city,” Marantan stated.

The security arrangements for the festival were extensive, with approximately 20,400 security and safety officers deployed to oversee the various events. During the climax of the festival, over 4,100 personnel were specifically assigned to manage the crowds at the Indak-Indak dance showdown and the Pamulak floral float parade, ensuring that the events proceeded without any disturbances.
