Davao Reports 5,000 Dengue Cases and 50 Deaths from January to October


DAVAO CITY: The City Health Office has reported 5,000 cases of dengue and 50 associated deaths from January to October this year. The villages of Talomo Proper and Buhangin have been identified as having the highest incidence rates, according to an official statement.

According to Philippines News Agency, Dr. Tomas Miguel Ababon, the officer-in-charge at the City Health Office, emphasized the need for community involvement in preventing dengue. He urged residents to maintain clean surroundings and eliminate mosquito breeding sites. Dr. Ababon stated that the city is actively implementing its Dengue Prevention and Control Program, which includes public information campaigns and the efforts of the Mosquito-Borne Diseases Task Force.

Dr. Ababon also reminded residents to adhere to the 5S strategy, which involves searching for and destroying mosquito breeding sites, using self-protection measures, seeking medical advice, supporting fogging in outbreak areas, and staying hydrated. Dengue fever, which is transmit
ted through the bites of infected mosquitoes, has the potential to develop into severe dengue, a condition that can be life-threatening.
