LIAONING PROVINCE — Heavy rainfall and subsequent flooding in Liaoning province, northeastern China, have resulted in the deaths of at least 11 individuals, with 14 others reported missing as of Friday.

According to Philippines News Agency, the coastal city of Huludao experienced severe floods that affected thousands and caused significant infrastructural damage estimated at approximately USD 1.45 billion. In total, 188,757 residents have been impacted by the ongoing weather crisis. Rescue operations are underway, with officials facing challenges in evacuating those affected to safer areas.

The adverse weather conditions have not been limited to Liaoning. On Thursday, similar heavy rains disrupted rail services and flights in Guangdong province, a major economic hub in China.
