DHSUD and Local Governments Collaborate for Swift Shelter Assistance

Manila: The Department of Human Settlements and Urban Development (DHSUD) and local government units (LGUs) have initiated efforts to expedite the delivery of assistance to families affected by disasters through the Integrated Disaster Shelter Assistance Program (IDSAP). The collaboration aims to streamline the validation process to determine which families require immediate aid due to housing damage.

According to Philippines News Agency, DHSUD Secretary Rizalino Acuzar emphasized the necessity for regional offices to adopt an anticipatory and proactive approach by coordinating closely with LGUs to ensure rapid validation and distribution of aid. A memorandum has been issued to ensure that regional offices communicate the availability of financial assistance under the IDSAP and distribute necessary forms accurately to facilitate the processing of requests.

The IDSAP offers PHP30,000 in cash assistance for families with completely destroyed homes and PHP10,000 for those with partially damaged homes due to ma
n-made or natural disasters. In preparation, Secretary Acuzar has directed the activation of shelter clusters in multiple regions, including Ilocos, Cagayan Valley, Central Luzon, and others, to ensure readiness and swift response to shelter needs.
