DHSUD Implements Housing Payment Moratorium for Typhoon Kristine Victims

MANILA: The Department of Human Settlements and Urban Development (DHSUD) has announced a moratorium on housing amortization payments for individuals affected by Severe Tropical Storm Kristine, following a directive from President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. This measure is intended to provide financial relief to those impacted by the storm, known internationally as Trami.

According to Philippines News Agency, DHSUD Secretary Jose Rizalino Acuzar issued the order to key shelter agencies, including the Home Development Mutual Fund (Pag-IBIG Fund), the National Housing Authority, Social Housing Finance Corp., and the National Home Mortgage Finance Corp. The moratorium aims to ease the burden on storm victims who have outstanding housing payments with these agencies.

Acuzar emphasized the importance of this initiative, stating that while it is a small gesture compared to the hardships faced by the victims, it serves to alleviate their fears. He reiterated President Marcos’s commitment to providing every possible f
orm of assistance to those affected by the typhoon.

Additionally, DHSUD is collaborating with local government units in the affected areas to expedite the processing of families eligible for the Integrated Disaster Shelter Assistance Program (IDSAP). This program offers unconditional cash assistance of PHP30,000 to families whose homes were destroyed and PHP10,000 to those with damaged homes. To facilitate this process, Acuzar has activated all shelter clusters in the impacted areas to ensure efficient validation of the IDSAP list.
