Diamante, Melencio, and Evangelista Shine at Speedo Swim Series 2


MANILA: Nicola Queen Diamante, Ricielle Maleeka Melencio, and Aishel Evangelista emerged as standout performers at the Go Full Speedo Swim Series 2 Championships, held at the Teofilo Yldefonso swimming pool within the Rizal Memorial Sports Complex. The event showcased the talents of young swimmers across various age divisions.

According to Philippines News Agency, Nicola Queen Diamante, a Grade 9 student from Augustinian Abbey School in Las Piñas City, clinched the gold medal in the 50-meter butterfly for the girls’ 14 years division, clocking in at 31.70 seconds. She outpaced competitors Rielle Aislyn Antonio of PCA Stingray, who finished at 32.13 seconds, and Caelyn Dane Salac of Modern Aquatic Swim Club, who completed the race in 34.02 seconds.

Ricielle Maleeka Melencio of Ayala Harpoons Swim Club excelled in the girls’ 19-over category, winning the 50-meter butterfly with a time of 31.58 seconds and the 200-meter freestyle in 2:19.26. Meanwhile, Aishel Evangelista, who was previously named Most Outstand
ing Swimmer for his age group in Series 1, continued his dominance by winning the 200-meter freestyle in the boys’ 14 years category with a time of 2:02.40.

In the boys’ 200-meter freestyle, notable winners included Paul Vincent Ocampo for the 11 years category, Von Andrei Pinon for 12 years, Vynz Tadulan for 13 years, John Jeremy Villaneuva for 15 years, Ethan Yuri Dulin for 16 years, Patrick Vidal for 17 years, Jim Ryan Mirandilla for 18 years, and Earl Jhay Jayme for the 19 years category.

The girls’ division saw Makoto Nakamura claim gold in the 11 years category, Sophia Rose Garra in 12 years, Rielle Antonio in 13 years, Eliana Rodriguez in 14 years, Kristine Uy in 15 years, Alyssa Cabatian in 16 years, Milkyla Guzman in 17 years, and Rio Balbuena in the 18 years category. The competition was organized by Philippine Aquatics, Inc. and received support from the Philippine Sports Commission, highlighting the depth of swimming talent in the region.
