DOLE Grants PHP1.4 Million Livelihood Project to Sorsogon Workers’ Group


LEGAZPI CITY: The Department of Labor and Employment-Bicol (DOLE-5), through its Sorsogon Provincial Office, has awarded a PHP1.4 million livelihood project to the Castilla Integrated Workers Association (CIWA) in Sorsogon province. The grant, given in partnership with the Castilla municipal government, aims to support local economic activities and improve the livelihood of CIWA members.



According to Philippines News Agency, the project will enable CIWA to organize and host events such as entertainment functions, public gatherings, and special occasions. The assistance package, presented at the municipal covered court in Barangay Cumadcad, included sound systems, fog machines, lighting, and other equipment essential for event management. Romanillos urged the group to take care of the equipment, emphasizing its importance for the sustainability and success of the project.



Additionally, the Department of Trade and Industry’s Negosyo Center conducted a capacity-building training session for CIWA’s 51 members. The training covered topics such as business registration, customer relations, bookkeeping, and digital marketing, with the aim of equipping members with the skills necessary for long-term success in their ventures.



Romanillos highlighted that the training is designed to empower CIWA members, providing them with the tools to contribute to the local economy and ensuring the project’s lasting impact.
