DSWD Expands Access to Medicines Through Guarantee Letters in Selected Pharmacies

MANILA – In a significant move to enhance healthcare accessibility, the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) has announced that select pharmacies across the Philippines will now accept DSWD-issued guarantee letters for purchasing medicines.

According to Philippines News Agency, the initiative falls under the Assistance to Individuals in Crisis Situation (AICS) program. DSWD spokesperson Irene Dumlao stated, “Under the AICS program, the DSWD has been engaging with selected pharmacies to help poor clients purchase their medicine needs through DSWD-issued GLs.” These guarantee letters are official documents that promise payment for services, including medicines, on behalf of the beneficiary.

Pharmacies in Metro Manila such as Globo Asiatico Enterprises, Inc.; Onco Care Pharma Corporation; Urology Med Care Inc.; Complete Solution Pharmacy and General Merchandise; Haran Pharmaceutical Product Distribution Ltd. Co.; Keminfinity Inc.; Medinfinity Inc.; JCS Pharmaceuticals Inc.; Interpharma Solutions Philippines Inc.; and those under the Drugstores Association of the Philippines (DSAP) are participating in this program. This initiative allows individuals in crisis to access necessary medical treatments without financial hurdles.

Individuals from other regions are encouraged to contact or visit any DSWD Field Office in their area for information on local pharmacies that accept these guarantee letters.
