EJAP and Aboitiz Power to Launch First Renewable Energy Forum in Makati


MAKATI – The Economic Journalists Association of the Philippines (EJAP), in collaboration with Aboitiz Power Corp., is set to host its first-ever renewable energy forum, aiming to advance the country’s renewable energy commitments.



According to Philippines News Agency, the inaugural EJAP-AboitizPower Renewable Energy Forum will convene on October 4 at the Securities and Exchange Commission’s SecECenter in Makati City. Themed “Powering A Sustainable Future,” the event seeks to address both governmental and private sector efforts towards reaching the Philippines’ renewable energy goals of 35 percent by 2030 and 50 percent by 2050.



Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) Commissioner Javey Paul Francisco will open the forum, representing SEC Chairman Emilio Aquino. Energy Secretary Raphael Lotilla is scheduled to deliver a keynote speech outlining a feasible plan for the nation’s energy transition.



Other significant contributions will include insights from Sharon Montaner, Director at the Energy Regulatory Commission, who will discuss market opportunities for renewable energy investments, and Ernesto delos Reyes Jr., Director at the Board of Investments, who will elucidate the Green Lane’s role in fostering these investments.



EJAP President Neil Jerome Morales highlighted the forum’s role in providing a vital platform for stakeholders and regulators to explore comprehensive strategies for expanding renewable energy resources, addressing broader power challenges. Rolando ‘Don’ Paulino, Chief Engineering and Project Officer at AboitizPower, will talk about the importance of power diversification for balanced economic growth and energy security. Additionally, Carlos Lorenzo Vega, Vice President for Power Marketing, Trading, and Economics at First Gen Corp., will discuss the multifaceted approaches needed for effective energy transition and decarbonization.



Eduardo Francisco, President of BDO Capital and Investment Corp., will outline how the banking industry can support accelerated renewable energy growth. The forum is also backed by several other significant entities in the energy sector, including PetroGreen Energy Corp., Energy Development Corp., and Meralco PowerGen Corp.



The event will be orchestrated by Kris Crismundo, EJAP Vice President for Internal and business reporter at the Philippine News Agency, serving as master of ceremonies. Tina Arceo-Dumlao, business editor at the Philippine Daily Inquirer, will moderate the panel discussion with government speakers, while Daxim Lucas, founder and CEO of InsiderPH News, will manage the private sector panel.
