Seoul: European Union (EU) foreign policy chief Josep Borrell announced his intention to strengthen the EU’s security and defense cooperation with South Korea during his current visit to Seoul. Borrell, who serves as the EU’s high representative for foreign affairs and security policy, made this declaration on the social media platform X earlier today, noting his arrival in Seoul to co-chair the inaugural Strategic Dialogue with South Korean Foreign Minister Cho Tae-yul.
According to Yonhap News Agency, Borrell highlighted the progress made in recent years in Digital, Green, and Health Partnerships between the EU and South Korea, emphasizing that his visit aims to elevate their security and defense collaboration. The discussions are expected to focus on shared concerns, particularly regarding North Korea’s deployment of troops to Russia in support of its ongoing conflict in Ukraine, and how both parties can jointly respond to these developments.
