Fire Erupts at USFK Warehouse in Busan; No Injuries Reported


Busan: A fire broke out at a U.S. Forces Korea (USFK) warehouse in the southeastern port city of Busan, authorities said, with no casualties reported.

According to Yonhap News Agency, the fire started at 6:31 p.m. at the USFK facility in Busan, located 320 kilometers southeast of Seoul. More than 160 personnel and 51 pieces of firefighting equipment have been mobilized to combat the blaze.

The U.S. military stated, “U.S. Army Garrison Daegu has activated mutual aid agreements with the Busan Fire Dept. in response to a warehouse fire of unknown origin at the Busan Storage Center.” The statement further clarified that the warehouse was under renovation, unoccupied, and empty when the fire erupted.

As of 7:55 p.m., Busan fire authorities raised their response level by one notch to Level 2, which involves the deployment of personnel and equipment from eight to 11 nearby fire stations, aiming to contain the situation effectively.
