Foreign Ministry Advises Korean Missionaries in Lebanon and Israel to Evacuate Immediately

Seoul: The South Korean Foreign Ministry has issued a strong advisory for its citizens, particularly missionaries, in Lebanon and Israel to evacuate as soon as possible due to heightened military tensions in the region.

According to Yonhap News Agency, the directive was issued by Hong Seok-in, the official responsible for the protection of overseas nationals and consular affairs, during a coordination meeting with representatives from 10 missionary organizations. Hong emphasized the urgency of leaving the conflict-prone areas, highlighting the escalating hostilities between Israel and Hezbollah, the Lebanon-based militant group. He advised the missionaries to make use of the available flights to exit the region promptly.

This advisory follows last week’s implementation of a travel ban by South Korea covering a broader area in southern Lebanon, where the conflict with Israel has been intensifying. The ministry’s decision underscores the growing concern for the safety of South Korean nationals amid the ongoin
g instability.
