Four Carmakers to Recall Nearly 190,000 Vehicles Over Faulty Parts


Seoul: Hyundai Motor Co., along with three other automotive companies, has announced a voluntary recall affecting nearly 190,000 vehicles due to defective components, as reported by the transport ministry on Thursday.

According to Yonhap News Agency, the recall involves a total of 189,797 units across 33 different models from Hyundai Motor Co., Mercedes-Benz Korea, BMW Korea, and Ford Sales and Service Korea. The Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport identified various issues prompting the recall, including problems with durability and software errors.

The recall includes 117,569 Hyundai Motor vehicles from four models, such as the Grand Starex, which were found to have insufficient durability in the hydraulic electronic control unit. Mercedes-Benz Korea is recalling 5,706 units of five models, including the Mercedes-AMG GT 43 4MATIC+, due to a fire risk associated with a design flaw in the transmission wiring connector.

In addition, BMW Korea is addressing concerns in 2,450 units of 14 models, in
cluding the 530i xDRIVE, which were identified to have insufficient durability in the universal joint part. Ford is recalling 1,219 units of the Lincoln Nautilus to correct an error in the vehicle’s door control software.
