Globe Restores Telecommunications Services in Seven Provinces After Storm Kristine

MANILA: Telecommunications company Globe Telecom, Inc. has successfully restored services in seven provinces heavily impacted by Severe Tropical Storm Kristine, known internationally as Trami, with further restoration efforts ongoing in other affected regions, the company announced on Friday.

According to Philippines News Agency, Globe reported that service restoration was completed in the provinces of Camarines Norte, Oriental Mindoro, Biliran, Eastern Samar, Northern Samar, Samar, and Southern Leyte by 9 a.m. The outages in these areas were primarily due to power interruptions caused by the storm. Restoration efforts are nearing completion in the provinces of Occidental Mindoro, Romblon, Albay, Sorsogon, and Leyte.

Yoly Crisanto, Globe’s Chief Sustainability and Corporate Communications Officer, stated that ground crews have initiated restoration activities in affected sites across Southern Luzon. “We are glad to report that several sites affected by power outages due to Kristine are back up 100% just as
the storm makes its way out of Philippine territory. Our personnel are on the ground in other affected areas to swiftly restore service to support relief and recovery efforts and help communities cope with the devastating impact of the storm,” Crisanto said.

In addition to restoring services, Globe has deployed emergency response services to assist in severely affected areas. This includes the establishment of free call, charging, and WiFi stations. Notably, Globe has set up a Libreng Tawag, Libreng Charging, and Libreng WiFi booth in front of a mall in Zone 1B, Barangay ABC in Cebu City, which will be operational until Saturday.

Globe has also encouraged its customers to participate in relief efforts by donating Globe Rewards points through the GlobeOne app, fostering community involvement in the recovery process.
