Iloilo City Mayor Treñas on Track for Recovery Following Bile Duct Surgery

Iloilo City — Mayor Jerry Treñas has announced his steady recovery following a recent bile duct operation and reassured the residents of Iloilo City of his imminent return to office duties.

According to Philippines News Agency, Treñas communicated through his spokesperson, Joy Fantilaga, that while eager to return to work, he is following medical advice to ensure a full recovery. “If it were up to me, I would already be back to work. However, following my doctor’s advice, I need to take some time to fully recover before returning to my duties as Mayor of Iloilo City,” Treñas stated in a media release.

The mayor underwent the surgery in Manila late last month during a trip originally planned around the convention of the National Unity Party. His decision for a check-up, prompted by his daughter Raisa Treñas-Chu, led to the discovery of a blockage in his bile duct. “It’s a normal procedure,” Treñas-Chu commented on the operation, indicating no complications.

In his absence, Vice Mayor Jeffrey Ganzon and Councilor Sedfrey Cabaluna have assumed the roles of acting mayor and vice mayor, respectively, ensuring the continuity of governance in Iloilo City.

“Rest assured, I will be back very soon, ready to continue serving the people of our beloved city,” Treñas added, signaling his commitment to return to office as soon as his health permits.
