Iloilo Province Proposes PHP4.8 Billion Budget for 2025

ILOILO: The Iloilo provincial government has proposed a PHP4.849 billion executive budget for 2025, marking an increase of approximately PHP700 million compared to this year’s budget of PHP4.174 billion. Additionally, the Local Economic Enterprise office is seeking a budget of PHP1.25 billion.

According to Philippines News Agency, Governor Arthur Defensor Jr. emphasized the focus on development in the proposed budget during a press conference. The provincial government aims to fund significant projects, including local road connectivity and improvements to power, electricity, and water systems. The budget will largely be supported by more than PHP4.47 billion from the national tax allocation, with the remainder sourced locally.

The allocation includes PHP2.98 billion for current operating expenses, with PHP1.792 billion dedicated to miscellaneous and other operating expenses, PHP1.18 billion for personal services, and PHP10 million earmarked for capital outlay. The Local Economic Enterprise budget, derived
from the estimated collection and service incomes of 11 district hospitals and one provincial hospital, will remain separate from the general fund.

Governor Defensor expressed confidence that the budget would pass before the end of the year, citing past experiences where the Sangguniang Panlalawigan, or local council, approved the budget before the year concluded.
