Industry Minister Ahn Duk-geun Discusses Economic Cooperation with North Dakota Governor


SEOUL: Industry Minister Ahn Duk-geun met with North Dakota Governor Doug Burgum in Seoul on Friday, discussing bilateral economic cooperation and the potential for business partnerships in clean energy sectors.

According to Yonhap News Agency, the meeting focused on enhancing the relationship between South Korea and the United States, particularly in the context of cutting-edge industries and supply chain collaborations. Ahn emphasized the need for consistent policies that support South Korean businesses, referencing the U.S. Inflation Reduction Act and the CHIPS and Science Act, which are pivotal to maintaining economic stability and fostering growth.

The discussions also highlighted the strategic role North Dakota could play in South Korea’s ambition to achieve carbon neutrality. The state is involved in the Heartland Hydrogen Hub, a clean energy initiative supported by the U.S. government, which aligns with South Korea’s goals to develop the hydrogen industry and carbon capture storage technologies.
