Jessi Issues Second Apology Over Assault Incident Involving Fan

Seoul: Rapper-singer Jessi has publicly apologized for a second time following an incident where a teenage fan was assaulted by a man accompanying her. The Korean American artist took to Instagram, expressing regret in both Korean and English, addressing the victim and his family.

According to Yonhap News Agency, the incident occurred on September 29 in southern Seoul when an 18-year-old fan asked Jessi for a photo. After his request was declined, the fan apologized and began to walk away when he was allegedly struck in the face by the man. Jessi attempted to intervene but quickly left the scene. She claims it was her first encounter with the assailant, yet there is speculation about a possible preexisting relationship.

Jessi previously issued an apology last week following media reports but continued to face criticism. On Friday, she terminated her exclusive contract with her agency at her own request. In her recent apology, Jessi expressed deep regret, acknowledging her lack of response and the subsequent
harm caused to the victim. She vowed to make amends and support the victim’s recovery, acknowledging that her actions cannot be excused with mere words.
