Seoul: KG Mobility Corp., formerly known as SsangYong Motor Co., announced on Friday a significant 44 percent increase in its vehicle sales for October compared to the same month last year, driven primarily by a surge in exports.
According to Yonhap News Agency, KG Mobility’s total vehicle sales for October reached 9,245 units, a substantial rise from the 6,421 units sold a year earlier. The company’s domestic sales experienced an 18 percent increase, totaling 4,504 units compared to 3,804 units in the previous year. More notably, exports soared by 81 percent, with 4,741 vehicles shipped, up from 2,617 during the same period last year.
A spokesperson from the company attributed the robust export performance to increased shipments of the Rexton Sports, Actyon, and Torres SUVs to key markets such as Turkey and Germany. Despite the strong performance in October, the company’s year-to-date sales from January to October saw a decline of 13 percent, totaling 89,828 units compared to 102,640 units in the same peri
od last year.
The decline in overall sales was primarily driven by a 25 percent drop in domestic sales, which fell to 41,197 units from 54,788 units. However, exports for the first 10 months showed a modest increase of 1.6 percent, rising to 48,631 units from 47,852.
KG Mobility, focusing on an SUV-centric product lineup, currently offers models such as the Actyon, Tivoli, Korando, Rexton, Rexton Sports, Torres, and the all-electric Torres EVX SUV. The Torres EVX is noted for its advanced lithium iron phosphate battery system, capable of traveling over 420 kilometers on a single charge.
