Seoul: South Korea’s cybersecurity watchdog has issued a warning to local organizations and businesses, urging them to enhance their data protection measures due to increasing hacking threats linked to North Korea’s troop dispatch to Russia. The Korea Internet and Security Agency (KISA) highlighted the heightened cyber threats facing South Korean entities, particularly through distributed denial-of-service attacks amid the ongoing Russia-Ukraine conflict and North Korea’s involvement.
According to Yonhap News Agency, KISA emphasized the importance of proactive cybersecurity strategies, recommending that companies conduct regular offline backups of critical data and documents. Additionally, KISA advised employees to be cautious of downloading potentially harmful files from suspicious emails, a common tactic used in cyberattacks.
