Knights Triumph Over Stags in Double Overtime to Secure Solo Fourth Place

SAN JUAN CITY: Vince Cuajao delivered an impressive performance with 34 points, including seven three-pointers, to lead Letran to a thrilling 101-98 victory against San Sebastian College-Recoletos in a double-overtime clash at the NCAA Season 100 men’s basketball tournament held at the Filoil EcoOil Arena.

According to Philippines News Agency, Jimboy Estrada, returning from a one-game suspension, significantly bolstered the Knights with 30 points, seven rebounds, and five assists, helping them avenge their prior 84-91 loss to the Stags on September 8. Cuajao scored nine points in the first overtime, while Estrada added five crucial points in the second, enabling Letran to improve their record to 7-6. This victory places them in solo fourth position, trailing College of Saint Benilde (10-2), Mapua University (10-3), and defending champion San Beda University (8-5).

Prior to halting their three-game losing streak, Letran shared the fourth spot with Lyceum of the Philippines University and Emilio Aguinaldo Col
lege, each holding a 6-6 record. Kevin Santos contributed significantly for Letran with 13 points, 11 rebounds, and three blocks, underscoring the team’s determination to secure a place in the Final Four-an achievement they missed last season.

San Sebastian, now with a record of 3-10, was led by Rafael Are, who scored 27 points, along with five steals, four assists, and two rebounds. Tristan Felebrico added 19 points, 12 rebounds, and three assists, while Nikko Aguilar and Leo Velasco contributed 14 and 12 points, respectively. Despite their efforts, the Stags, who led 41-34 in the second quarter and maintained a 64-60 advantage by the end of the third, were unable to clinch the win.
