KTX Train Service Restored After Derailment Incident


SEOUL — Normal operations have resumed for the high-speed KTX train service following a derailment incident that disrupted travel on the Seoul-Busan route, Korea Railroad Corp. (KORAIL) confirmed on Monday.



According to Yonhap News Agency, The derailment, which took place near Daegu’s Gomo Station on Sunday afternoon, involved a KTX Sancheon train en route from Seoul to Busan. Fortunately, there were no injuries reported, but the accident caused significant delays, affecting 153 trains with delays up to 277 minutes during a severe heatwave. KORAIL completed the necessary recovery work by early Monday morning at 5:08 a.m. The company has announced that it will compensate affected passengers for additional expenses incurred, such as taxi fares, due to the disruption caused by the incident.
