Letran Ends Three-Game Skid with Win Over Lyceum in Women’s V-League


MANILA – Letran snapped a three-game losing streak with a 20-25, 25-21, 26-24, 25-19 victory over Lyceum of the Philippines University in the V-League Women’s Collegiate Challenge at Paco Arena on Sunday. The win improves Letran’s record to 2-3, placing them in a tie for fifth with College of Saint Benilde.



According to Philippines News Agency, Gia Marcel Maquilang led the Lady Knights with 18 points, including two blocks. Sheena Vanessa Sarie added 15 points, while Verenicce Colendra and Angelique Ledesma contributed 12 and 11 points respectively, with Ledesma delivering four blocks. Coach Oliver Almadro emphasized the importance of finding cohesion among his young players, noting that the team continues to improve despite early struggles.



Lyceum, still winless after five games, was led by Joan Dogana’s 13 points and Johna Dolorito’s 11 points. Despite closing the gap to 15-16 in the fourth set, the Lady Pirates were unable to sustain their momentum as Letran secured the win in 63 minutes.



Letran will face unbeaten University of Santo Tomas on September 13, while Lyceum will play Saint Benilde on September 11.
