LG Twins’ Moon Bo-gyeong Optimistic Ahead of Second Round in KBO Postseason

DAEGU: After a challenging first round in the Korea Baseball Organization (KBO) postseason, LG Twins’ third baseman Moon Bo-gyeong is looking forward to a fresh start in the upcoming series against the Samsung Lions.

According to Yonhap News Agency, Moon struggled during the earlier postseason games, managing only a single hit in 19 at-bats against the KT Wiz. Despite his performance, the Twins managed to secure a 3-2 series victory, with Moon’s only hit occurring in the decisive Game 5, which was met with significant applause from the home crowd at Jamsil Baseball Stadium. The 24-year-old player, who had his most productive season this year with 22 home runs and 101 RBIs, began the series as a cleanup hitter but was later moved to the sixth spot by manager Youm Kyoung-youb in an effort to relieve some pressure.

Moon shared his thoughts during a pregame interview at Daegu Samsung Lions Park, expressing determination to leave his previous struggles behind. “I am going to put the last series behind me and get
ready for a new start,” Moon stated. He admitted that he might have been pressing too hard in the initial games and plans to return to his usual style of play, which brought him success during the regular season.

The young third baseman also reminisced about his earlier achievements at the same park, where he played his first professional game and hit his first home run. “This is where I played my first game, got my first hit and my first home run,” he recalled. “And I’ve been hitting the ball well in the cage. Hopefully, it will carry over into games.”

Despite being moved down from the cleanup spot, Moon remains positive and focused on contributing to his team’s success. He emphasized the importance of playing his role, regardless of his position in the batting lineup. “I am just grateful to be playing, and I want to help the team any way I can, even if I don’t get a hit,” he added.

The LG Twins are set to face the Samsung Lions in Daegu on Sunday afternoon, where Moon hopes to restart his postseason with
better results.
