Lions Secure First Victory in Korean Series Against Tigers

DAEGU: The Samsung Lions secured their first victory in the Korean Series by defeating the Kia Tigers 4-2 at Daegu Samsung Lions Park. This win comes after two consecutive losses in the series, marking a critical moment for the Lions as they aim to even the best-of-seven series.

According to Yonhap News Agency, the Lions showcased a powerful offense by hitting four solo home runs, tying a Korean Series record. Starter Denyi Reyes played a crucial role in the victory, pitching seven innings and allowing only one run while striking out eight batters. With this win, the Lions strive to become just the third team in Korean Series history to overcome a 2-0 deficit and win the series, a feat last achieved by the Lions themselves in 2013.

The Lions are pursuing their first championship title since 2014, while the Tigers are aiming for their first top finish since 2017. Designated hitter Park Byung-ho contributed significantly to the Lions’ offensive efforts by hitting his 14th career postseason home run, tying the
all-time record with former Lions star Lee Seung-yuop.

The series will continue with Game 4 in Daegu, scheduled to start at 2 p.m., where the Lions will attempt to level the series and keep their championship hopes alive.
