Manhunt Underway for Assailants of Cagayan de Oro Police Captain


Cagayan de Oro City—A manhunt has been initiated by the Police Regional Office-Northern Mindanao (PRO-10) for the two suspects responsible for the assassination of Capt. Abdulcahar Armama, Cogon Station 2 commander, near Greenhills Memorial Park in Barangay Bulua on Saturday night.



According to Philippines News Agency, Capt. Armama was fatally shot by two unidentified assailants on a motorcycle. Following the attack, his body was transported to his native Lanao del Norte. In a statement issued on Sunday, PRO-10 condemned the act of violence against community protectors and pledged to ensure that those responsible are apprehended and prosecuted.



“We assure them that we will do all necessary actions to apprehend and bring to justice the perpetrators,” PRO-10 stated, expressing deep sympathy to the family, friends, and colleagues of Capt. Armama. The agency has also urged the public to contribute any information that might aid in tracking down the suspects, emphasizing the importance of collective action against violence.



The Cagayan de Oro City Police Office has established a special task force dedicated to pursuing the perpetrators. Capt. Armama, a graduate of the Philippine National Police Academy’s Masidlak Class of 2017, was remembered in a family statement as a devoted father, husband, and a fearless leader in the fight against illegal drugs. “He fearlessly led the charge against drug syndicates, putting his life on the line to make our city a safer place,” the statement noted, underscoring his bravery and the profound respect he garnered within the community.
