Manila Archdiocese Announces 24 ‘Jubilee Churches’ for 2025 Celebration

Manila – In anticipation of the “Ordinary Jubilee of the Year 2025” as declared by Pope Francis, the Archdiocese of Manila has officially designated 24 churches across the city as “Jubilee Churches.”

According to Philippines News Agency, this selection was carried out by the Presbyteral Council and the ad hoc committee on the Archdiocesan Celebration of Jubileo Taong 2025. These churches, shrines, and sacred places were chosen to meet the spiritual needs of the faithful and to enhance their opportunities to participate in the Jubilee celebration and obtain the Indulgence. “May I inform you that we have considered designating your church as one of the Jubilee Churches according to the sectors indicated in the calendar of the Jubilee celebration in Rome,” stated Cardinal Advincula in a circular released on August 30.

The chosen Jubilee Churches will serve as focal points for pilgrims and host a variety of activities aimed at deepening the understanding of the Holy Year’s significance. This includes catechesis and the regular celebration of the Sacrament of Reconciliation. The churches will cater to specific groups: EDSA Shrine for government workers and security personnel; Chapel of St. Lazarus for the sick and healthcare workers; San Felipe Neri Parish for youth; and the Archdiocesan Shrine of Santo Niño for children, among others.

Other notable designations include the National Shrine of the Sacred Heart for entrepreneurs, San Jose de Trozo Parish for laborers, and San Ildefonso Parish for young professionals. Specialized communities such as artists and athletes will gather at Saint John Bosco Parish, while educators will be centered at San Fernando de Dilao Parish. Additional churches are dedicated to seminarians, catechists, the poor, prisoners, migrants, and those involved in digital communications and ecology.

Cardinal Advincula also emphasized that these churches will plan and execute various activities in line with the Jubilee celebrations in Rome, focusing on spiritual enrichment and community involvement. “These Jubilee Churches will organize and make available for the people of God the following activities: catechesis, and regular celebration of the Sacrament of Reconciliation,” he added.
