Manila Archdiocese to Conduct Special Collection for Storm Kristine Victims

MANILA: Parishes within the Archdiocese of Manila will conduct a second collection during all Masses this weekend to aid individuals impacted by Severe Tropical Storm Kristine, known internationally as Trami, particularly in the Bicol region and Quezon province.

According to Philippines News Agency, Manila Archbishop Jose Cardinal Advincula issued Circular 2024-75 on October 24, urging priests, team ministry moderators, and members, as well as rectors and chaplains, to organize the collection in morning, afternoon, and evening Masses on October 26 and 27. The collections are to be remitted to the Accounting Office of the Arzobispado de Manila by October 30, 2024.

Archbishop Advincula expressed gratitude to parishes and churches that provided shelter during the storm’s onslaught. “My heart and prayers go out to all those affected by Kristine, particularly in Bicol Region and Quezon Province. We extend our sincere gratitude to the churches and homes that opened their doors to accommodate those affected. The s
olidarity among Christians is deeply felt in times like these,” he stated.

He further encouraged priests, consecrated individuals, and lay leaders to continue offering support to those in need. In addition, the Archbishop announced that the Second Collection for Prison Awareness has been postponed to November 3, to prioritize the collection for storm victims.
