Meralco Restores Power to 206,000 Customers After Storm


MANILA: The Manila Electric Co. (Meralco) has successfully restored electricity to 206,000 customers following Severe Tropical Storm Kristine, also known internationally as Trami. Initially, 566,000 customers faced power outages, but disruptions have since decreased to approximately 360,000.

According to Philippines News Agency, the majority of affected customers are located in Cavite, Laguna, and Batangas, with additional outages reported in Metro Manila, Rizal, Bulacan, and Quezon. Joe Zaldarriaga, Meralco’s vice president and head of corporate communications, emphasized the importance of following safety protocols, especially in flooded areas, and asked for customers’ patience as restoration efforts continue.

Meralco crews are working continuously to bring power back to the affected areas, aiming to restore services to most customers by the end of the day. In addition, One Meralco Foundation is providing relief packs and solar lamps to families severely impacted by the storm.
