Seoul: Trash carried by a North Korean balloon landed in the presidential compound in Seoul on Thursday, according to the presidential office. The debris included leaflets criticizing South Korean President Yoon Suk Yeol and first lady Kim Keon Hee.

According to Yonhap News Agency, the South Korean military reported that North Korea launched additional balloons toward South Korean territory early Thursday. Authorities warned that these balloons might drift toward the Seoul metropolitan area and the border regions.

The Presidential Security Service (PSS) released a statement indicating that a North Korean balloon filled with trash exploded in the air early Thursday morning, dispersing debris across the Yongsan presidential compound. The PSS assured that the objects posed no danger and had been safely collected.

The PSS also noted that it is closely monitoring the situation in coordination with the Joint Chiefs of Staff to ensure the security of the area.
