NAIA Terminal 3 Cooling System Shutdown for Troubleshooting

MANILA – The Manila International Airport Authority (MIAA) has announced the temporary shutdown of the cooling system at Ninoy Aquino International Airport (NAIA) Terminal 3 for urgent chiller troubleshooting. This precautionary measure is aimed at preventing major damage following the discovery of high operational temperatures in chillers 1, 2, and 4.

According to Philippines News Agency, the shutdown was essential to determine the exact cause of the overheating and to conduct descaling, cleaning, and swabbing of the affected chillers to restore them to optimal condition. The authority has installed cooling fans throughout the terminal to alleviate the increased temperatures and reduce discomfort for passengers and staff. The MIAA has expressed its commitment to resolving the situation quickly and efficiently, anticipating that troubleshooting activities will conclude by Saturday morning, with expected temperature improvements by noon.

MIAA General Manager Eric Jose Ines has issued advice to Terminal 3 users to wear light clothing, carry personal fans, and stay hydrated to cope with the warmer conditions during this period. He expressed gratitude for the patience and understanding shown by travelers and employees as the airport addresses these technical challenges.
