Negros Oriental Police Confiscate Over PHP 1.5 Million in Shabu, Arrest Thousands in Wide-Ranging Crime Sweep


NEGROS ORIENTAL — In a vigorous crackdown on crime, the Negros Oriental Police Provincial Office (NOPPO) successfully executed a large-scale anti-criminality operation that led to the seizure of PHP 1.5 million worth of shabu and the arrest of thousands over a three-day period.



According to Philippines News Agency, Lt. Stephen Polinar, spokesperson for NOPPO, reported that the Simultaneous Anti-Criminality Law Enforcement Operations (SACLEO), conducted from September 20 to 22, targeted various criminal activities across the province. The operation saw 12 specific actions against illegal drug trafficking, which resulted in the confiscation of 224.83 grams of suspected shabu and the arrest of 12 individuals linked to these illegal activities.



In addition to the drug-related arrests, the operation encompassed 18 crackdowns on illegal gambling, where 44 suspects were detained. Polinar highlighted that 46 further operations were carried out to apprehend individuals with outstanding warrants, leading to the arrest of four Most Wanted Persons along with 43 others. The police also focused on controlling loose firearms, recovering or securing 25 unregistered weapons through 24 separate operations.



Moreover, Polinar added that the enforcement actions extended to local ordinance violations, with 1,042 people apprehended for various infractions during the same period. The comprehensive operation underscores NOPPO’s commitment to maintaining law and order through rigorous enforcement and community cooperation.
