New K-pop Girl Group Meovv Makes Debut with Producer Teddy at the Helm

Seoul – Meovv, the latest girl group from The Black Label, made their debut this Friday, unveiling their first single that reflects a unique blend of chic and lovable traits, mirroring the dual nature of cats. The group’s launch marks a significant step for the label, which is led by the accomplished producer Teddy, known for his work with K-pop powerhouses BIGBANG and BLACKPINK.

According to Yonhap News Agency, the debut was celebrated with an online media showcase where the group performed their new song “Meow,” which combines addictive melodies with a strong bass line, and choreography inspired by feline movements. The event highlighted the international makeup of the group, consisting of five members—Ella, Gawon, Sooin, Anna, and Narin—hailing from South Korea, Japan, and the United States.

During the showcase, member Gawon expressed her excitement and gratitude, saying, “I’m really happy to be on this debut stage, which I have dreamed of for a long time. I’m tremendously grateful for those who have supported and helped us.” Another member, Ella, mirrored these sentiments, emphasizing the unforgettable nature of their debut.

The group’s name, Meovv, a creative play on the sound of a cat’s meow, encapsulates their intention to portray both powerful and tender characteristics through their music and performances. Anna explained the choice of the name as a representation of their “dual charm—powerful and intense, yet cute and mild.”

The members also discussed what sets Meovv apart from other groups, with Ella pointing out their unmatched charisma when unified, and Narin emphasizing the importance of individuality within the group. She stated, “I think each member really needs to have a distinct character. We, Meovv, will work hard to become a team that can represent the fifth generation K-pop.”

The media showcase concluded with the members addressing their global audience in five languages—Korean, English, Chinese, Japanese, and Spanish, showcasing their readiness to engage with an international fanbase. Sooin expressed the group’s collective gratitude and determination, promising to continually evolve and surprise their fans.
